The Environmental Institute for Golf’s Silent Auction Privacy Statement

Overview

The Environmental Institute for Golf respects the privacy of its users. The Institute does not collect any information through the Web site without the knowledge and consent of the user. All personal information collected through the site is provided on a voluntary basis by the user through a visible means of data entry or collection.

In summary, The Institute’s silent auction web site collects information to provide online bidding services to users, to notify auction winners and to contact other users as necessary. In addition, as a service to donating companies, mailing address information for users who bid on their items is provided to them. At the close of the auction, The Institute may also notify registered bidders of special announcements, new additions to the Web site, or other products and services offered by The Institute.

As part of this privacy pledge, a more detailed explanation of how we use the information you provide to us is outlined below.

Registration information

In order to bid in the silent auction, each user must submit a registration form with his/her name, email address and mailing address. This process protects the integrity of the auction and ensures that only registered users have access to bid on auction items.

The user’s email address enables the auction software to communicate with the user regarding his/her auction participation. In addition, when users forget their usernames and passwords, they may automatically retrieve an access combination for the silent auction site if they can provide this information.

All registration information, with the exception of the user’s password, is stored in the auction’s database. User passwords are always encrypted -- no one but the user has access to that information.

Because registering for the auction is completely voluntary, The Institute may use this email address to let silent auction users know of special announcements, new additions to the Web site, or other products and services offered by The Institute. However, The Institute is sensitive to the concerns of auction participants and pledges to target its messages as closely as possible and to avoid "spamming" them at all costs.

In addition, as a service to The Institute’s partners who donate items to the auction, GCSAA provides the mailing information of bidders who have shown interest in the donated products or services. No email information is included in this service.

If you would not like to receive email from The Institute please contact the GCSAA service center at (800) 472-7878.

Distribution of e-mail lists

Out of respect for its users and customers, The Institute will not sell, rent, loan, trade, or lease the email addresses collected to any outside organization.

Comments and concerns

The Institute recognizes the importance of privacy to our users. If you have any concerns about how your information may be used, please contact the auction staff at  (800) 472-7878, ext. 5165.

The foregoing policies are effective as of Nov. 6, 2003. The Institute reserves the right to change this statement at any time to reflect changes in its policies and procedures. This statement and the policies outlined herein are not intended to and do not create any contractual or other legal rights in or on behalf of any party.
